UDHAMPUR, DECEMBER 20: Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Bhupinder Kumar today conducted extensive tour of Udhampur and took stock of major ongoing projects of the department including construction of new Government Medical College in the district.
The Secretary along with Deputy Commissioner, Saloni Rai, inspected various sections of the Government Medical College Udhampur and Associated Hospital and assessed the recent specialised surgeries performed in the institution along with the position of existing staff strength.
The Secretary visited the construction sites of the 200-bedded district hospital and the makeshift building of GMC Udhampur.
He asked the Principal GMC Udhampur to ensure quality service, minimize referral cases and create a conducive environment for students undergoing MBBS courses.
Bhupinder Kumar also enquired about the availability of medicines, diagnostics and facilities in the Associated Hospital of GMC Udhampur.
During the inspection, he visited various sections including classrooms and labs besides interacting with the staff. He received briefings on lab tests, procedures, equipment availability and surgical procedures at GMC.
He emphasized the significance of maintaining punctuality and directed the GMC administration to ensure on-time services and hygiene and sanitation in the premises.
The Secretary issued on spot instructions to the executing agencies for expediting completion of the project by way of deployment of additional manpower and increasing number of shifts at the construction sites.
He asked the Principal GMC to keep regular monitoring to ensure smooth and timely completion of these prestigious projects.
