Baramulla, May 02 : National Conference vice -president and former chief minister of the erstwhile J&K state, Omar Abdullah on Thursday filed his nomination papers for the Baramulla Lok Sabha seat.
Accompanied by senior party leaders, Omar Abdullah, as per news agency, filed his nomination papers today before the returning officer for Baramulla Lok Sabha segment, Minga Sherpa.
Omar parried a question on Sajad Lone’s assertion that he will withdraw his nomination papers if the National Conference can get the INDIA bloc to make a public commitment for restoration of Article 370.
Omar, however, said they are against whatever occurred on August 5, 2019 and they are seeking votes from the people who share their opposition to the decision.
“We are not alone in this fight,” he said.
Omar is locked in a direct contest with Peoples Conference president Sajad Gani Lone even as 17 other candidates are in the fray.
