REASI, MARCH 11: To combat illegal mining activities, the District Mining Department Reasi, in collaboration with the police department, conducted a day-long drive under the guidance of District Development Commissioner,  Vishesh Mahajan.

The operation resulted in the seizure of three heavy excavators and two dumpers found to be engaged in unauthorized extraction and transportation of Minor Minerals in Chinkah, Arnas, and Talwara areas of the District.

During the drive, two heavy excavators were confiscated in Chinkah and Arnas areas, where they were operating in block numbers 11 and 14, situated in the Chinkah area of Thakrakote tehsil. Additionally, one excavator and two dumpers were seized in the Talwara area, where they were working in block number 26, located downstream of the Baradari Bridge in Talwara, and the Kons Khansa area of District Reasi.

The District Mining Officer highlighted the importance of such drives to curb illegal extraction of minerals. He reiterated the District Administration’s commitment to protect natural resources and ensuring environmental sustainability. Strict action will be taken against offenders to deter future illegal mining activities.
