RAMBAN, JUNE 22: As part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan – 100-Day Campaign, the Government Degree College (GDC) Ramban organized a Youth Leadership Programme to empower students with leadership skills and strengthen their role in promoting a drug-free society. The programme was organized under the guidance of Principal Prof. Romesh Kumar Atri.
Addressing the participants, the Principal emphasized the crucial role of youth in combating the menace of substance abuse and fostering positive social change. He encouraged students to emerge as responsible leaders and ambassadors of the anti-drug movement, capable of inspiring their peers and communities towards healthy and productive lifestyles.
An expert lecture was delivered by Head of Geography Department and Member NCORD Committee, Dr. Anuj Gupta. He highlighted the growing challenges posed by drug abuse among youth and underscored the importance of leadership, awareness and collective responsibility in addressing the issue. He stressed that young leaders can play a transformative role in building a drug-free and progressive society through informed decision-making, effective communication and social responsibility.
The programme featured interactive discussions focusing on leadership qualities, decision-making skills, teamwork, communication and community engagement. Students actively participated in the deliberations and shared their views on how youth can contribute to the prevention of substance abuse and promote a culture of wellness and responsibility.
The students and faculty members pledged to remain vigilant against drug abuse and work collectively towards realizing the vision of a Drug-Free Jammu & Kashmir.
The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks presented by Head, Department of Hindi Dr. Rabinder Kumar.
