KISHTWAR, SEPTEMBER 29: The District-Level NCORD Committee meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma to review the measures initiated to curb drug abuse and strengthen the de-addiction framework in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner conducted a detailed review of the prevailing situation and sought inputs about vulnerable areas, affected age groups, and identified hotspots. He also assessed the progress of preventive initiatives and enforcement actions undertaken by concerned departments.
Highlighting the importance of community engagement, the DC stressed the need for active participation in the ongoing UT-wide IEC campaign under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
He noted that nine resource persons from the notified line departments have been deputed for the purpose, besides ensuring the maximum participation in the campaign to maximize its reach and impact.
He directed all heads of line departments to ensure the participation of these resource persons, cautioning that absenteeism would be viewed seriously.
The DC further directed enforcement agencies to keep vigil on courier service providers operating in the district and ask them to strictly follow prescribed SOPs and guidelines to prevent misuse of their networks for drug-related activities.
The School Education Department was also directed to ensure that all educational institutions are declared as Tobacco-Free Zones.
Emphasizing a collective and coordinated approach, the DC called upon all stakeholders to work in unison to effectively combat the drug menace and safeguard the youth of Kishtwar.
The meeting was attended by SSP Kishtwar Naresh Singh, ADC Kishtwar Pawan Kotwal, ACR Kishtwar Idrees lone, SDM Paddar Dr. Amit Kumar DSWO Kishtwar Zubair Ahmed, CEO Municipal Council Kishtwar Mirza Mumtaz Iqbal, CAO Kishtwar Kushal Chandel, AO DC Office Kishtwar Daleep Kumar, Nodal Officer ATF Kishtwar Dr. Harris along with other senior officers and concerned officials.
