Srinagar, May 01 : Over 100 works of Archaeology department have been kept on hold in the Valley while the officials said that the projects to be taken up only after the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) will come to an end.

Sources within the Archaeology department informed the news agency, that this delay could have significant repercussions for the progression of projects and the dissemination of vital archaeological knowledge.

The department, renowned for its groundbreaking research in uncovering historical mysteries and preserving cultural heritage, is currently facing setbacks due to strict adherence to the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), they said.

They added that more than 100 projects across Kashmir are on hold, and once the MCC comes to an end, the projects will receive the green signal.

An official in the Archaeology department expressed his concerns over the impact of the delays on the department’s research initiatives. “The enforcement of the MCC is essential for upholding the integrity of our work; however, once the MCC ends, all works will start at full pace,” he said.

“In the first phase-I, at least 60 works are being taken up while in the phase-II, 40 works will be completed and all these projects have been kept on hold till the MCC is in the place,” he said
