People of Kashmir shouldn’t feel betrayed: Waheed Parra on “special status” resolution

Srinagar, Nov 08 :  Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) MLA Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra on Friday said people of Kashmir should not feel that there has been a compromise in response to the August 5, 2019 changes.

Speaking during the Motion of Thanks on the LG’s address, Parra, as per news agency— said that people shouldn’t feel betrayed.

“Our concerns with NC leadership is that it’s a historic session but when Kashmiri people read it( resolution) they should not feel there has been a compromise or betrayal,” he said.

Parra said that the government have tolerance and address concerns of opposition.

“Maybe, we are wrong, but being a head of the family, Omar Abdullah should clear our concerns over the resolution passed in the House,” Parra said, adding that “if the government will not tolerate  3 to 4  people then how come we expect anything from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

Speaking in the House, another PDP MLA, Rafiq Naik called for a re-look at the existing reservation policy, saying that it is against the interests of the general category.

“Please have a look at the reservation policy. Where will the general category go?” he asked.

He said that Kashmiris shouldn’t be labelled as separatists, terrorists and Pakistanis. “You can call us names but don’t label us Algawadi (separatists), Attankwadi (terrorists) and Pakistanis,” he said.
