Ladakh, Oct 30: The President of India, Draupadi Murmu, is scheduled for a two-day visit to Ladakh, commencing on Saturday, October 31, officials said.

During her visit, President Murmu will partake in the Union Territory Day celebration in Leh and pay a visit to the Siachen Glacier, which is recognised as the world’s highest battlefield, an official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

At the Siachen Base Camp, she will have the opportunity to interact with the brave troops stationed there, he said.

On Monday, the inaugural day of her visit, the President will grace the Foundation Day celebrations of the Union Territory of Ladakh in Leh.

An official from Ladakh informed KNO that on November 1, the President will visit the Siachen Base Camp, where she will interact with the soldiers safeguarding the nation’s highest battlefield.

“A civic reception will be organised in her honour at Leh on the same day,” the official said, adding that the President’s itinerary includes interactions with members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and the local tribal population—(KNO)
