Srinagar, Mar 11 : Several athletes from south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have excelled in the state-level soft tennis championship by clinching medals in various categories.

According to details obtained by the news agency, three athletes from the Star Sports Academy in Rakh Pulwama secured three medals. The medal-winning athletes are Snober Gulzar, Imtiyaz Ahmad, and Anzar Javaid, all hailing from the Pulwama district.

Their coach, Shakir Ashraf, informed KNO that the 7th J&K UT Soft Tennis Championship, organised in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council for all categories, took place at the Amar Singh Club in Sonwar, Srinagar, on March 09 and 10.

“Despite limited exposure to the game, several players from Pulwama showcased their talent exceptionally well. Snober secured a silver medal, while Imtiyaz and Anzar bagged bronze medals,” Ashraf said.

Expressing their joy over their achievements in the soft tennis championship, the athletes vowed to continue striving for excellence in upcoming events. They credited their families for their unwavering support and highlighted their commitment to balancing academics and sports.

The athletes stressed the importance of engaging youth in sports activities to steer them away from drug addiction and other social ills. They said Kashmiri youth have immense talent and only need proper platforms and exposure to excel in various fields.
