Sgr-Leh road opens for one-way traffic

Traffic to ply from Sgr to Leh on odd days, Leh to Sgr on even days

GANDERBAL: On the recommendation of Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole, Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumuri (SSG) road was thrown open by Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Krittika Jyotsna along with SSP Ganderbal, Nikhil Borkar for one way traffic, for small and medium vehicles from Srinagar to Leh, an official spokesman said Friday.
As per the notification issued by the Office of Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, traffic shall ply on Srinagar-Leh National Highway on odd days from today while from Leh to Srinagar traffic will ply on even days and cut off time for vehicles shall remain 6 am at Sonmarg, Ganderbal side and 8:30 am from Kargil Side at Meenamarg. Besides, no traffic shall be allowed on Fridays on the axis (excluding today) which shall be maintenance day, he said.
Important to mention that movement of only antiskid chained or 4×4 and mechanically sound vehicles shall be allowed on the axis besides vehicles should not be overloaded and should carry load as per permissible tonnage, he added.
ARTO Ganderbal and other officials of traffic department were also present on the occasion.
