Sheep Husbandry Deptt B’la Organizes CVE Programme on AMR

BARAMULLA, NOVEMBER 24: Sheep Husbandry Department Baramulla today conducted a Continuing Veterinary Education (CVE) Programme on the theme “Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)” at the Veterinary Hospital, Chijhama (MFC, SDB Rafiabad), as part of World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week.

The programme aimed to raise awareness and enhance understanding of AMR in both animals and humans.
The programme was attended by veterinarians, para-veterinarians, students, farmers, and representatives from pharmaceutical companies.

Key experts delivered lectures on various aspects of AMR highlighted Impacts, Challenges, and Future Prospects. The current status of AMR in veterinary medicine and the importance of adhering to withdrawal periods for commonly used antimicrobials was also highlighted.

District Sheep Husbandry Officer Baramulla, emphasized the urgent need for responsible antibiotic use and raising farmer awareness. He highlighted the critical role of veterinarians in promoting preventive health, implementing AMR stewardship programmes, following the One Health approach, and supporting policy development. He further noted that the theme of WAAW 2025—“Act Now, Protect Our Present, Secure Our Future”, is a shared responsibility requiring strengthened surveillance and diagnostics.
