SAMBA, NOVEMBER 18: Deputy Commissioner Ayushi Sudan today inaugurated a Sanitary Pad Manufacturing Unit established under NABARD’s “My Pad My Right” (MPMR) project of its Livelihood & Enterprises Development Programme (LEDP) and support of NABFOUNDATION and locally based Kristu Jyoti Social Welfare Society.

The MPMR project aims at nurturing rural women entrepreneurs, enhancing financial independence and ensuring access to affordable menstrual hygiene products within rural communities. It further seeks to raise awareness on menstrual health and encourage environmentally responsible waste management practices.

NABARD, NABFOUNDATION and Kristu Jyoti Social Welfare Society provided the machinery, equipment and working capital support of Rs. 5.70 lakh to the SHG members for the establishment of the Unit.

After inaugurating the facility, DC Ayushi Sudan interacted with the SHG members involved in production and appreciated the efforts of NABARD in empowering rural women and youth through diverse skill based livelihood initiatives. She highlighted the significance of the MPMR project in strengthening rural entrepreneurship and emphasised the importance of menstrual health and hygiene in community welfare.

On the occasion, DC Sudan also inaugurated a watershed project of NABARD in Deon Panchayat, fully grant supported at a cost of Rs. 2.26 crore. The project will benefit six villages, covering a total area of 1000 hectares and aims to enhance water conservation and promote sustainable watershed development.
