Snow avalanche hits 5 vehicles near Gumri, ‘People on board rescued: SSP Kargil

Sonmarg: At least five vehicles on way to Kargil from Sonamarg came under a snow avalanche on Sunday afternoon near ‘Sahiatan Nallah’ Gumri.
Shaitan Nallah Gumri area falls between Zojila and Drass.
The vehicles mostly trucks that came under the snow avalanche were laden with eatables and other goods and were on way to Kargil.
SSP Kargil Inayitullah Chowdary told news agency Kashmir News Trust that all the people present in the vehicles were rescued and the operation is on to retrieve the trapped vehicles.
He said at least five vehicles were hit by the avalanche. [KNT]
