SRINAGAR, AUGUST 12: The Social Welfare Department (SWD), SANKALP-HEW Srinagar organised a two-day training programme on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace (POSH) Act for the Chairpersons of Internal Committees constituted in various district offices of Srinagar.
The training programme commenced on 11 August 2026 and successfully concluded on 12 August 2026 at the NHM Conference Hall, Old Secretariat, Srinagar.
The programme aims to enhance the understanding and capacity of the Chairpersons of Internal Committees regarding the SHE-BOX Portal and its implementation under the provisions of the POSH Act, 2013, their roles and responsibilities, and the procedures to be followed for prevention and redressal of complaints relating to sexual harassment at the workplace.
Resource persons from the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Srinagar, participated in the programme and provided valuable guidance to the participants on the legal framework, institutional mechanisms, duties of Internal Committees, complaint-handling procedures, confidentiality, and the importance of ensuring a safe, dignified and harassment-free working environment.
The programme also focused on sensitising the participants about the need for effective implementation of the POSH Act and strengthening the functioning of Internal Committees in various government offices. The interactive sessions provided an opportunity to the participants to seek clarifications and gain practical insights into dealing with workplace-related complaints in accordance with the prescribed legal provisions.
The SWD emphasised that such capacity-building programmes are essential for creating greater awareness about workplace rights and responsibilities and for ensuring that appropriate mechanisms are in place for prevention, prohibition and redressal of sexual harassment at the workplace.
The two-day programme is expected to further strengthen the institutional response to workplace harassment and contribute towards fostering a safe, respectful and inclusive working environment across district offices.
