Review decision to declare land in Gulmarg, Sonamarg as “strategic areas”: Tarigami to Govt

Srinagar:  Following the draft report of the Comptroller and Audit General ( CAG) exposing the discrepancies in the recruitment and promotion procedures with the top agricultural universities of Jammu and Kashmir, CPI( M ) leader Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami has sought a credible probe into the issue.

In a statement, Tarigami said that the CAG in its reports has pointed out that the authorities in both SKUAST Jammu and SKAUST Kashmir had violated the UGC norms for the direct recruitment of teaching positions, promotions, and entitlements.

“The observations made by the CAG are of a very serious nature, which needed to be probed thoroughly so that responsibility could be fixed”.

It further read that the flagrant violation of the norms and favoritism is bound to only dent the image of these top-tier institutions but also mar their academic, research, and other activities.

“This is very unfortunate that those who had helmed the affairs of such institutions were found involved in the venal practices by an independent authority like CAG”.

Meanwhile, CPI(M) has urged for a credible investigation into the irregularities pointed out by the CAG to save these prime institutions. [KNT]
