KISHTWAR, APRIL 16: A significant meeting under the ongoing Nasha Mukt JK Abhiyan was convened today by the District Administration Kishtwar, bringing together religious heads of all communities, representatives from civil society and NGOs to strengthen the implementation of the 100-day Nasha Mukt Campaign in the district.

The meeting was held under the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma and was chaired by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Pawan Kotwal.

At the outset, District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) Tariq Parveaz Qazi presented a comprehensive overview of the activities being undertaken by the stakeholder departments as per the schedule notified by the District Administration.

The meeting witnessed active participation from prominent religious and community leaders, including the Sanatan Dharma Sabha President Mahant Ram Saran Dass; the Majlis-e-Shoura Committee President and Imam Jamia Masjid Farooq Ahmed Kitchloo and the Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee General Secretary, Charanjeet Singh and members of civil society and NGOs.

The participants put forward several valuable suggestions to curb drug abuse, including the need for counseling of parents and students, village-level awareness announcements, establishment of an advanced rehabilitation centre in the district, strict action against drug peddlers and suppliers and greater parental responsibility in monitoring children.

All the religious heads and other stakeholders assured their full cooperation to the District Administration in its efforts to eradicate the drug menace from the district.

The ADC informed that volunteers are being identified at the MC ward and Panchayat levels to actively support anti-drug efforts.

In line with the directions of the Lieutenant Governor the ADC instructed the concerned departments to constitute Mahila Nigrani Samitis at Mohalla and ward levels for community monitoring. The involvement of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) was also stressed.

The meeting concluded with a strong collective resolve to make Kishtwar a drug-free district through coordinated action and sustained community participation.
