Srinagar, May 15 : The Rs 1500 crore World Bank funded Jhelum-Tawi Flood Recovery Project (JTFRP) has surpassed agreed targets in few areas, the multilateral financial institution said in its latest report on the project.
As per the news agency, in the latest “implementation status & results report” on the project, the World Bank has said that it has largely achieved its objective and surpassed its targets in some cases.
“JTFRP focuses on recovery and mitigating risks linked to floods in Jammu and Kashmir. The project has largely achieved this and, in some cases, has surpassed the agreed targets,” reads the report released on May 13.
In the report, the multilateral funding institution has described the overall implementation progress of the project as “moderately satisfactory”.
The noteworthy achievements under the project include 45 school buildings, five higher education buildings, one fire station, 112 km of road stretches, 10 bridges, 75- km of drainage network, 50 storm-water drainage pumping stations, critical medical equipment and supplies to 36 hospitals, augmenting 108-helpline with 112 critical care ambulances and commissioning of 30 oxygen generation plants covering all districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
The project was approved by the World Bank in June 2015. It became effective in April 2016 with a closing date of June 30, 2020. However, its deadline has been extended six times since 2020
