Srinagar: Body of a 42-year-old woman was found and retrieved from river Lidder in Pahalgam of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district this afternoon.

Preliminary reports reaching GNS, suggest that the woman drowned while she was taking bath in the river. Some passersby on spotting the body informed the police, who on reaching the site retrieved the body and shifted it to PHC Pahalgam for necessary medico-legal formalities.

A police official identifying the woman as Zareena Begum (42), wife Mohd Ashraf, resident of Amadwagad Aishmuqam, told GNS that the body continues to lie in mortuary at PHC Pahalgam. “We have in the meantime initiated investigations to collect necessary details into the cause of her death”, the official further said.  (GNS)
