KATHUA, OCTOBER 31: To commemorate 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and celebrate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas , the NSS unit of Government Degree College Ramkote in collaboration with Cultural Committee of the College organized a Unity March/Pad Yatra, here today.
The initiative, undertaken under the overall guidance of Dr Rakesh Kumar Koul, Principal of the College, was a part of nationwide campaign titled Sardar@150. The campaign was aimed to engage youth in nation building and advance the vision of Viksit Bharat@ 2047.
Students of BA Semester 1st, 3rd and 5th participated in the march raising slogans of National Unity and pride.
The students expressed their dedication to uphold the values associated with the legacy of “The Iron Man of India” and the message of importance collective responsibility and national cohesion. After the unity march, a documentary titled “Sardar Patel: The Iron Man of India” was screened for the staff and students. The documentary shed light on the life and contributions of Sardar Patel in integrating over 560 Princely States into a unified India after independence.
Students also came to know about his instrumental role in establishing the modern All India Services, strengthening the administrative framework of the country. Nearly 60 NSS volunteers enthusiastically participated in the screening of the documentary.
The programme was organized and coordinated by Prof. Pankaj Nandan, IQAC Convenor, Prof Suresh Chander, Convenor Cultural Committee and Prof. Anu Sharma, NSS PO. Faculty included Prof. Vasundra Raje, Sheraj Ahmed Sofi, Sheraj Ahmed Hajam, Sheikh Aabid Azad, Mr Sushil Singh, Krishan Singh and Ankush Kundral.
