RAJOURI, OCTOBER 5: The District Administration Rajouri has taken strong cognizance of the long-pending issue of waste dumping in Rajouri town and initiated decisive measures to ensure a permanent and sustainable solution.

The issue of waste dumping in Rajouri town has been a matter of concern for quite some time. Acting on public grievances, the District Court had earlier directed the stoppage of dumping at traditional dumping sites and instructed the authorities to identify an alternate site for scientific waste management.

Following the court’s directions, expert teams from the Swachh Bharat Mission inspected the proposed alternate site and approved it for waste management activities. To expedite the process, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma constituted a high-level committee for the assessment and improvement of Solid Waste Management in Rajouri town and directed it to submit a detailed report within seven days.

The Deputy Commissioner appealed to the general public to actively participate in maintaining cleanliness and beautification of the town. Citizens have been urged to submit their grievances or suggestions regarding sanitation and ward-level issues to the committee to make Rajouri clean, green and beautiful.

He assured that within one month, a permanent solution will be implemented to resolve the waste dumping problem once and for all. The DC also cautioned that if any unauthorized dumping is carried out by the Municipal authorities after the issue is resolved, strict action will be taken against those responsible.

“Public awareness and cooperation are crucial in addressing this civic issue. The problem cannot be resolved without the active involvement of the people,” the DC said, reaffirming that the District Administration is fully committed to the welfare of the general public and the overall cleanliness of Rajouri town.
