ANANTNAG, JUNE 20: A review meeting regarding the ongoing Census-2027 operations was held under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) who is also District Census Officer, Anantnag, Vikas Ahlawat today at DC Office.
The meeting was attended by District Statistics and Evaluation Officer (Additional District Census Officer), Charge Officers (Tehsildars and EOs of MCs) and other concerned officials.
The purpose of the meeting was to assess the progress of HLO activities, coverage of migratory population and preparedness for for 2nd Phase (Population Enumeration) in snow bound areas. Detailed discussions were held on these important aspects of the Census-2027 exercise during the meeting.
While reviewing the coverage of migratory population, it was informed that lists of registered grazers and Pony Walas obtained from concerned authorities have been shared with all Charge Officers to ensure comprehensive census coverage before their migration to higher pastures. The Charge Officers were directed to furnish Action Taken Reports (ATRs) regarding the completion of the exercise.
The chair was informed that progress reports regarding completion of HLOs are being shared with all Charge Officers on a daily basis to facilitate regular monitoring and ensure timely completion of census activities.
Regarding snow-bound areas, it was informed that 17 such revenue villages have been identified in the District after obtaining requisite information from the Tehsildars. The Charge Officers were directed to examine the requirements and furnish inputs regarding inclusion of any additional villages, if required.
The meeting also reviewed preparations for the next phase of Census operations. The ADC issued directions to furnish necessary information regarding the estimated number of Enumeration Blocks (EBs) for the second phase of Census-2027 as per the directions received from the Directorate of Census Operations.
The District Census Officer stressed upon all concerned officers to maintain close coordination, ensure accuracy in data collection and complete all preparatory activities within the stipulated timelines. He further directed the officers to regularly monitor the progress and promptly address any issues arising during the census preparations adding that data accuracy and adherence to SoPs be ensured by all Census-2027 functionaries.
