BANDIPORA, AUGUST 10: The Sheep Husbandry Department (SHD), Bandipora, today organised a “Kissan Ghoshti” under ATMA at the Municipal Hall, Bandipora, with the participation of around 100 sheep farmers.
Officers of the Sheep Husbandry Department and experts from agriculture allied departments were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the event, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Bandipora highlighted major projects of the department under HADP, including CFC and Embryo Transfer Technology. He also interacted with sheep breeders, while the queries raised by them were addressed on the spot.
Speaking on the occasion, officers from the allied departments threw light on various schemes available for the farming community and the benefits associated with them.
The officers of the department emphasised the importance of timely veterinary interventions, disease surveillance and preventive healthcare in sustaining the productivity and well-being of livestock. They highlighted that such initiatives play a crucial role in reducing disease incidence, improving flock health and enhancing the livelihoods of the sheep community. The participants were also guided on the proper use of medicines, deworming schedules, vaccination protocols and general animal husbandry practices.
Sheep and Wool Development Officer Bandipora, threw light on the employment generation schemes of the department and the overall management of livestock on modern scientific lines.
Later, essential medicine kits were distributed among the participants.
