PANTHAL (REASI), AUGUST 12: Director School Education Jammu Dr. Naseem Javed Choudhary, accompanied by Joint Director School Education Udhampur-Reasi Dr. Jagdish Chander, undertook a comprehensive inspection of Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Panthal and PM Shri Government Middle School Panthal in District Reasi.
During his interaction with the students, the Director assessed their reading and writing abilities and engaged with them on matters extending beyond the prescribed curriculum. He encouraged the students to participate actively in classroom discussions as well as co-curricular activities, reminding them, in essence, that education acquires its fullest meaning when knowledge is accompanied by expression, curiosity and the courage to participate.
The Director also undertook a detailed review of the online and offline attendance records of both staff and students, besides examining the general upkeep and cleanliness of the school premises. The implementation of departmental circulars and instructions issued from time to time was reviewed, along with the status of UDISE data updation, underscoring the department’s continuing emphasis on both academic quality and institutional accountability.
A significant part of the interaction was devoted to the Mentorship Initiative of the School Education Department—an intervention that recognises a truth often forgotten amid the statistics of education: every child requires not merely instruction, but someone who can listen, guide, encourage and help transform uncertainty into possibility.
Dr. Choudhary interacted with the students regarding the initiative and emphasised the role of mentorship in strengthening their confidence, communication skills, personality development and overall growth. He stressed that the purpose of education is not simply to produce students who can answer questions, but young individuals capable of asking meaningful questions, understanding their own potential and facing the uncertainties of the future with resilience.
On-the-spot directions were issued to the Heads of Institutions and the staff for further strengthening the academic and administrative functioning of the schools. Particular emphasis was laid on maintaining clean, vibrant and welcoming school environments and ensuring that departmental initiatives reach the classroom not merely as instructions on paper, but as living practices that make a discernible difference to students.
Dr. Choudhary exhorted the teachers to discharge their responsibilities with dedication, innovation and unwavering commitment, stressing the importance of quality teaching, continuous assessment and the holistic development of every learner.
