KATHUA, SEPTEMBER 29: A joint team of enforcement agencies today conducted a surprise inspection at M/s B.R. Agrotech Ltd at SICOP Hatli Morh Kathua after receiving complaints of suspected employment of child labour in the industrial unit.
The joint team comprised Tehsildar Vikram Kumar; District Child Protection Officer Varun Kumar Choudhary; Assistant Labour Commissioner Muneer Hussain; officials from the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Child Helpline, Health Department and Police.
During the inspection, 28 children including 18 girls were rescued from the industrial premises. The rescued children were escorted to the Government Hospital for medical examination. Subsequently, all the children were produced before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) for further proceedings in accordance with the provisions of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act and relevant labour laws.
