Srinagar, Mar 04 : Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday said to have booked two notorious drug smugglers under PIT NDPS Act in Kulgam.
The two notorious drug smugglers identified as Sabzar Ahmad Rather son of Abdul Salam Rather resident of Malipora & Sabzar Ahmad Bhat son of Mohd Ahsan Bhat resident of Tarigam, have been booked under PIT NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority. The booked drug peddlers have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jammu, a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency.
Itβs pertinent to mention that many cases are registered against these drug peddlers and were involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of District Kulgam. Despite their involvement in many FIRs, they did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse.
Consistent action of Police against the criminals should reassure the community members that police is making all efforts to eradicate social evils and making all efforts to keep the society free from drug abuse, police said
