SAMBA, MARCH 11: In continuation to the series of events being organised under International Women’s Day, Government Degree College, Vijaypur organised a colourful cultural programme, here today.
Students of the college participated in the programme with great enthusiasm and presented various cultural items including songs, dance and poetry recitation depicting the importance of women in every sphere of life.
Principal of the college Prof. (Dr.) Vandana Verma said that International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8, commemorating women’s fight for equality and liberation along with the women’s rights movement.
International Women’s Day gives focus to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women.
The programme was organised with the support of senior faculty member Dr. Anoop Kumar Bhagat (HOD Sociology). The whole event was coordinated by Prof. Poonam Kundan (HOD Environmental Sciences), Dr. Manoj Heer (HOD Dogri) and Dr. Naseem Chowdhary (HOD English).
