REASI, MAY 13: District Development Commissioner Reasi Nidhi Malik chaired a meeting today to review the physical and financial progress achieved in the construction of road projects under the R&B and PMGSY sectors in the district.

The meeting was attended by the officers from the Public Works Department (PWD) and PMGSY. The officers gave presentations on the status of ongoing projects, covering timelines, budget utilization, and the challenges affecting implementation. Among the key issues discussed were delays related to land compensation matters and forest clearances.

DDC Nidhi Malik stressed the importance of timely completion of road infrastructure for improved connectivity and overall development in the district. She directed the concerned officers to adhere strictly to project deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards during execution.

She instructed the XENs to closely coordinate with the SDMs in their jurisdictions, ensuring regular progress reviews on the ground. This will allow for the early initiation of all pending works in their respective divisions. Moreover, she emphasized the need for strict action against non-performing contractors.

The DDC emphasized that piecemeal tendering should be avoided, and directed that tenders must be floated for the full extent of the approved project cost as per the DPR. This, she noted, is essential to prevent cost escalations and time overruns during execution.

The meeting was attended by SE R&B Romesh Kumar, CPO Narinder Kumar, XENs R&B and PMGSY of Reasi/Mahore/Katra division, AEEs and other officers.
