DODA, OCTOBER 17: Deputy Commissioner Doda Krishan Lal today chaired a meeting of the District Level Telecom Committee (DLTC) to review the status of telecom connectivity in the district, assess the progress of ongoing infrastructure works and measures put in place to extend mobile network coverage to remote and far-flung areas.

The Committee reviewed issues related to mobile network connectivity, internet services, status of telecom infrastructure and mechanism in place for redressal of public grievances concerning inadequate network coverage.

The utilization of C-BuD (Call before you Dig) – an application designed to prevent damage to underground utility assets during excavation activities, physical progress of ongoing works and installation of new mobile towers were also reviewed. The meeting further discussed proposals for setting up additional towers to strengthen network coverage across the district.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments, telecom service providers and other stakeholders to expedite ongoing works and ensure their timely completion. He emphasised the need to prioritise areas that remain unconnected or have inadequate network coverage, particularly in remote and geographically challenging parts of the district.

The concerned telecom service providers were directed to explore measures to enhance the coverage range of existing mobile towers to ensure uninterrupted and reliable network connectivity. They were further asked to address coverage gaps, improve service quality and take effective steps to minimise network disruptions, with special emphasis on remote and unconnected areas of the district.

Emphasising the importance of reliable digital connectivity, the DC called for close coordination among all concerned departments and telecom service providers to resolve bottlenecks, accelerate infrastructure development and ensure equitable access to telecommunication services across the district. The concerned authorities were directed to take timely follow-up action on the issues discussed during the meeting and work towards strengthening telecom infrastructure and improving network connectivity, particularly in underserved and unconnected areas.

The meeting was attended by SSP Kartik Shrotriya, ADC Anil Kumar Thakur, ACR, SE PWD (R&B), DFO, concerned Executive Engineers, EO Municipality, Divisional Engineer (Telecom), BSNL, officials from the concerned departments and district representatives of Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio.
