KISHTWAR, DECEMBER 05: A mega district-level camp under the nationwide campaign “Aapki Poonji, Aapka Adhikar” (“Your Money, Your Right”) was organized today by the LDM Office Kishtwar at the Conference Hall of the New DC Office.

The campaign, launched by the Union Finance Minister on 04 October 2025, is being conducted across the country from October to December 2025 to facilitate the settlement of unclaimed funds regulated by the RBI, MCA, SEBI, IRDAI and PFRDA.

The event was graced by the Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma as the Chief Guest. The programme commenced with a detailed presentation by the Lead District Manager (LDM) on the campaign’s core motto—Awareness, Access and Action—along with an overview of the different phases conducted nationwide in October and November.

During the camp, RBI LDO Amandeep Singh addressed the participants and explained the objectives of the campaign. He elaborated on the process for claiming unclaimed amounts in bank accounts, shares, company dividends and mutual funds. He also highlighted the usefulness of the UDGAM portal, which enables citizens to trace and claim unclaimed deposits with ease.

An open discussion was held with claimants present at the event, during which several individuals shared the difficulties they had faced in reclaiming their funds. Many grievances were taken up and resolved on the spot by the officials attending the camp.

RBI LDO informed the gathering that approximately ₹8.5 crore of unclaimed funds are currently lying in the Depositor Education and Awareness Fund (DEAF) in Kishtwar district, emphasizing the need for collective efforts to reduce the pendency.

The Deputy Commissioner stressed the importance of close coordination between banks and the district administration to enhance awareness and expedite the settlement of unclaimed funds.

A key highlight of the event was the distribution of settlement cheques by the Deputy Commissioner to subscribers of various banks, including J&K Bank, SBI and PNB. The claimants expressed appreciation for the Government of India’s initiative, led by the Department of Financial Services (DFS) and recommended wider publicity to help more people benefit from the campaign.

As many as 14 DEAF Accounts were settled with the help of Financial Literacy Centre (CRISIL Foundation).
The banks settled 51 cases including 28 by J&K Bank, amounting ₹14.34 lakh, 5 by SBI totaling ₹5.20 lakh and 18 by PNB amounting to ₹35,000.
