DLSA Jammu hosts awareness program on NALSA’s ‘Child Friendly Legal Services for Children- 2024’ Scheme

JAMMU, MAY 21: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Jammu under the guidance of Principal District & Sessions Judge (Chairman DLSA) Ravinder Nath Watal and overall supervision of Sub-Judge (Secretary DLSA) Maleeka Sharma on Thursday organized an awareness program on the NALSA Scheme of Child Friendly Legal Services for Children, 2024 here at Ved Mandir Balniketan (Orphanage House), Amphalla.

The program was graced by Sub-Judge (Secretary DLSA) Maleeka Sharma, Panel Lawyer DLSA Deepali Arora, along with PLVs. Mansi Sharma and Bhajan Singh.

Maleeka Sharma initiated the program, emphasizing the significance of the NALSA Scheme. She highlighted that children are special members of society and deserve love, care, safety, education and respect. She explained that the scheme aims to make the legal system friendly, safe and easy for children, ensuring they are heard, respected and protected.

She mentioned, ” जब एक बच्चा मुस्कुराता है, तभी समाज सच में आगे बढ़ता है।” She elaborated on the scheme’s benefits, including free legal help through trained lawyers and officers, special care for children and dissemination of information about child rights in simple language. She encouraged children to speak up if they face problems and assured them of support.

Panel Lawyer Deepali Arora also elaborated the scheme’s benefits, explaining how it aims to make the legal system friendly, safe and easy for children to understand. She highlighted the importance of children’s rights including the right to education, safety, equality and expression.
