DLSA Shopian, Health Department observe World Health Day

SHOPIAN, APRIL 07: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Shopian, in collaboration with the Health Department, today observed World Health Day at Mini Secretariat Shopian under the global theme “Together for Health: Stand with Science.”

The programme was conducted under the directions of Chairman DLSA (Principal District & Sessions Judge) Shopian, Mehmood Ahmad Chowdhary, and Secretary DLSA Shopian, Mudasar Farooq.

The event aimed to raise awareness among participants regarding overall health, well-being, and the importance of adopting healthy lifestyles.

Chief Health Officer, Mudasir Ahmad, in his address, emphasized that maternal and newborn health remains a cornerstone for building strong and healthy communities.

He stated that ensuring proper care and support for mothers and providing a healthy start to every child is essential for sustainable development.

District Microbiologist, Ishfaq Khursheed, stressed the importance of awareness programmes in promoting public health. He highlighted that World Health Day serves as a global platform to draw attention to critical health issues each year and emphasized the need to inculcate healthy daily habits. He also underlined the importance of both physical and mental well-being, particularly among the youth.

Deputy Chief LADC, Shahnawaz Raina, also addressed the gathering and underscored that health is a shared responsibility. He highlighted that the right to health, medical care, and a clean environment are integral to the constitutional right to live with dignity.

The programme witnessed participation from Medical Officers, staff members, paramedical personnel, ASHA workers, and Para Legal Volunteers.
