DODA, DECEMBER 13: General Manager, District Industries Centre (DIC) Doda, S. Paramjeet Singh convened a meeting to review the implementation of the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP).

The meeting was attended by the Lead District Manager, Zonal Head of J&K Bank, and other officials responsible for the scheme’s operations in the district. The discussions focused on progress updates, challenges, and strategies to enhance the scheme’s impact across rural and urban areas.

During the meeting, it was highlighted by the Zonal Head of J&K Bank that the target for the financial year 2024-25, in terms of loan disbursement, has already been achieved. The General Manager stressed the importance of timely loan disbursement to ensure maximum benefits reach unemployed youth. He urged banks to increase awareness campaigns, particularly in rural areas, so that potential beneficiaries can fully understand and utilize the scheme. Additionally, the need for courteous interactions by bank officials with applicants was emphasized to create a supportive environment for aspiring entrepreneurs.

A significant milestone of the PMEGP implementation in the district was also shared during the meeting. Subsidy adjustment letters involving 79 beneficiaries have been issued after the resumption of geo-tagging, amounting to ₹1,83,14,064. The General Manager applauded this progress and encouraged continuous efforts to streamline subsidy disbursals and enhance the program’s reach.

The meeting concluded with a call to ensure the PMEGP scheme effectively empowers unemployed youth by providing them with sustainable livelihood opportunities, thereby contributing to economic growth and self-reliance in Doda.
