SHOPIAN, NOVEMBER 12: The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Shopian Tuesday organized a special awareness programme for rural youth titled ‘Canopy Management in Temperate Fruit Crops’ at ITI Shopian.
The event was sponsored by the Ministry of Micro, Small and medium Enterprises (MSME), Govt. of India.
The training programme witnessed the active participation of more than 70 rural youth accompanied by the scientists of the KVK Shopian and employees of Horticulture, Agriculture, NABARD and superintendent of ITI shopian.
The Coordinator of the training programme, Dr Bilal Ahmad Pandit provided insights into the training programme and delivered a detailed lecture on ‘Scientific interventions in Plant architecture to promote Quality Apple production.’
The scientist from AARC Pahnoo, Dr Khursheed also provide a detailed power point presentation on Post harvest Management of insect pests in temperate fruit crops.
Dr Shaiq Ah.Ganai (Scientist Food Technology) gave a valuable talk on Preservation and post harvest management of fruits and vegetables.
Dr Mir Shabir Ahmad, Scientist Animal science also delivered a lecture on “Improve Microclimate for livestock grazing vis-à-vis manure and nutrient management”.
The aim of this awareness programme was to uplift the educated rural youth in gaining knowledge and inculcate the skill for sustainable development of Apple production.
