BARAMULLA, MAY 12: ‘Jashn-e-Jamhuriyat’, a two day mega Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program held in the heart of the world renowned international tourist destination Gulmarg to spread voter awareness, concluded today.

The grand SVEEP program was meticulously organized by the District Election Office in anticipation of the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024 for the 1-Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency, scheduled to be held on 20th of May.

The mega event saw the participation of esteemed dignitaries including Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri; General Observer, Deependra Singh Kushwah; Expenditure Observer, Sita Ram Meena; Police Observer, Ravi Shankar Chhabi; District Election Officer Baramulla, Minga Sherpa; Chief Executive Officer, Gulmarg Development Authority, district officers, artists, athletes, trekkers, and a diverse array of other enthusiastic participants, making the event a vibrant and inclusive gathering.

The two-day program kicked-off with an enthralling musical concert on the evening of May 11th. Renowned artists, including the talented young Ishfaq Ahmad, a recipient of the prestigious Rashtariya Bal Puraskar award, along with Shafi Sopori and the mesmerizing Jehlum Band graced the stage and captivated the audience with their beautiful melodies.

Second day of the mega voter awareness program started with the plantation drive in the lush green meadows of Gulmarg which was held under the Green Election campaign of SVEEP initiative, where the esteemed dignitaries joined hands with the Students, general public, police personnel and planted saplings to promote greener democracy.

Later in the day, various sporting activities were held which were initiated by the flagging-off ceremony of a trekking rally held under the ‘Trek for Democracy’ campaign of SVEEP initiative. Similarly, Cyclothon and Marathon were held which saw a massive participation of newly registered voters, showcasing their eagerness to wholeheartedly participate in this electoral process.

The mega SVEEP awareness program in Gulmarg culminated with the award distribution ceremony where the winners of the individual sporting events were felicitated by the Police Observer, 1-Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency, Ravi Shankar Chabbi who presented them with certificates and mementos.
