KISHTWAR, OCTOBER 14: In line with the vision of promoting livestock welfare and sustainable animal husbandry, the Department of Animal Husbandry Kishtwar organized a Mega Awareness Camp here at the Office of the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer (CAHO).

The event was held under the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Pankaj Kumar Sharma and it formed part of the ‘Information Dissemination & Promotional Activities’ component under the UT Capex Budget 2025–26 .

The camp aimed to sensitize livestock farmers about key aspects of modern animal husbandry including scientific breeding, disease prevention, balanced nutrition, vaccination schedule and improved management practices.
Over 150 livestock farmers from different blocks of the District participated enthusiastically. Technical experts and departmental officers interacted with farmers, addressing field-level challenges and guiding them on disease control, feeding management and government support schemes designed to boost livestock-based income.

As part of the Department’s balanced nutrition initiative, mineral mixture packs were distributed among participating farmers. The distribution process was conducted with proper documentation and acknowledgment to ensure transparency and audit compliance.

The event was held under the supervision of Dr. Mohammad Irfan Wani Chief Animal Husbandry Officer (Additional Charge) Kishtwar.

Among others present at the camp included Dr. Arif Shah (PEO Kishtwar); Dr. Indu Bhushan (Technical Officer to CAHO); Dr. Rajan Sharma (VAS); Dr. Shimmona Parihar (VAS); Dr. Mudasar Khateeb (VAS); Dr. Mukesh Kumar (VAS) and Dr. Anas Beig (CP Kishtwar) whose contributions ensured the camp’s technical success.

The logistical arrangements were efficiently managed by Ashfaq Ahmed Dev (Storekeeper), Ravi Kumar Sharma (LSS), Sajid Hassan (SVP) and other dedicated staff members of the CAHO Office.

The session concluded with an interactive dialogue where farmers shared field experiences and practical insights. Departmental officers assured continued support through regular awareness drives, field visits and the timely supply of veterinary essentials to strengthen livestock welfare initiatives.
