BUDGAM, JULY 19: As part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, a series of impactful Information, Education & Communication (IEC) campaigns were organized today across different locations in district Budgam.

These events aimed to raise awareness on the ill effects of drug abuse and promote a drug-free lifestyle, particularly among the youth.

Awareness sessions were held at Panchayat Ghar Kanihama, Government High School Badran, and Boys Higher Secondary School Narbal, in addition to previous programmes conducted at Alamdar Wakf Model School and Life School Rozabal in Charar-i-Sharief.

The activities witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, civil society members, and officials from line departments including Health, Education, Social Welfare, and the Municipal Committees.

The events featured a combination of awareness sessions on the psychological, social, and health impacts of substance abuse, anti-drug pledge ceremonies led by faculty and administration to reaffirm commitment to a drug-free society, rallies and street awareness marches involving students and youth volunteers, door-to-door campaigns by volunteers and health workers, especially in Kanihama and Narbal, to spread awareness at the grassroots level.

On the occasion, speakers sensitized attendees about the rising threat of narcotics among adolescents, importance of early identification, and available rehabilitation and counselling services.

They also stressed the role of community, educational institutions, and families in identifying at-risk individuals and building a supportive environment.

Interactive components like group discussions, quiz sessions, and distribution of educational material made the campaigns more engaging and informative. The initiative aimed to equip young minds with the right knowledge and encourage them to become advocates of change in their own communities.

These campaigns underscore the message that fighting drug abuse requires collective responsibility, preventive education, and active community participation, and district Budgam remains committed to the cause of a Nasha Mukt Budgam, Nasha Mukt JK, and Nasha Mukt India.
