NIA conducts raids at 3 places in Bla, Sgr

Baramulla: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday carried out raids at multiple locations in Kashmir, officials said.

Preliminary reports available to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the raids were being conducted at Baramulla and Srinagar districts in connection with militancy funding case.

Among the places being raided presently are the residences of Zahoor Ahmed Malla son Bashir Ahmed Malla of Old town Baramulla, who is currently lodged in Udhampur jail, Mehraj din Bhat son of Gulam Mohammad Bhat of Khawjabagh Baramulla and Feroz Ahmad Shiekh, Khalid Shiekh, Zahoor Sheikh sons of Gulam Ahmad Shiekh of Dewan Colony Nishat, owners of Hotel Hilton Pahalgam.

“Further details will be shared with the media after the conclusion of the raids,” an official said.

Meanwhile, in a statement issued here, NIA spokesman said that searches were conducted at three locations in District Baramulla and one location in Police District Handwara in connection with a case under number RC-17/2016/NIA/DLI at the premises of suspected cross LoC traders and connected persons.

“The case pertains to the generation of additional profits through cross LoC trade mechanism between J&K and PaK and using funds so generated for fomenting militant activities in Jammu & Kashmir. The said trade was started in the year 2008 via two Trade Facilitation Centres (TFCs) located at Salamabad, Uri in Baramulla District and Chakan-da-Bagh in Poonch District. The trade has been suspended since the month of April 2019. The case was registered suo-moto by NIA on 16.12.2016,” the statement said.

It further said that during the searches conducted today, the digital devices along with incriminating documents have been seized, adding that further investigation in the case continues—(KNO)
