Doda, Apr 23 : As part of the joint training for trainee Police Sub-Inspectors (PSIs) of Jammu and Kashmir police to combat terror in absence of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), northern Army commander Lieutenant General M.V. Suchindra Kumar today facilitated outstanding achievers of the training programme at 16 Corps battle school in Bhalra area of district Doda.

The training programme started on March 18, 2024 and will culminate on April 27.

According to the news agency, this training programme was held for 62 deputy superintendents of police (DySPs) including 19 female officers and 1042 PSIs including 109 female PSIs. The training for DySPs was only for two weeks.

The training was aimed at increasing synergy, interoperability and understanding the strengths along with the ethos and culture of each other. The police personnel have gained the experience of the Indian Army which will help them in understanding and undertaking tasks in prevalent security scenarios in a better manner. It will further bolster the cooperation within the Security Forces

The training was also important since the government has announced to revoke the AFSPA as union home minister Amit Shah had given hints towards it.

“The Army Commander during his address emphasized the significance of the joint training program between the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police and commended the collective efforts towards enhancing operational synergy and interoperability among the forces. He exhorted all ranks to remain physically fit as a hallmark of a professional responder to all security challenges,” Lt. Col. Suneel Bhartwal, defence spokesman said.

“Acknowledging the participation of 136 female PSIs, he underscored the commitment towards inclusive training initiatives. The collaboration between the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police was emphasized as indispensable in striving towards a secure and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir,” the PRO defence added.
