Srinagar: Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Sopore and recovered contraband substance from their possession, a police spokesman said Friday.
He said that police personnel at a checkpoint established at Nadihal crossing intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK01N-5535 with two persons on board. During checking, officers were able to recover 1.5Kgs of charas like substance concealed in a bag form their possession.
Police arrested the two persons who were identified as Muhammad Shafi Shah son of Ali Muhammad resident of Takiya Wagoora Baramulla and Showkat Ahmad Mir son of Farooq Ahmad resident of Nehalpora Pattan. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 19/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Panzla and investigation has been initiated, the spokesman added.
