RAJOURI, SEPTEMBER 22: On the directions of District Development Commissioner Abhishek Sharma, the Social Welfare Department in collaboration with Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) organised an aids and appliances Distribution Camp for Senior Citizens under Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY) here at Dak Bungalow Rajouri.
The programme organized under the aegis of Sewa Parv 2025 was graced by Chairperson District Development Council Advocate Naseem Liyaqat Choudhary as the Chief Guest alongside MLA Rajouri Iftkar Ahmed.
At the outset, District Social Welfare Officer Abdul Rahim informed that as many as 216 senior citizens will be provided 1,064 units of aids and appliances including wheelchairs, hearing aids, walking sticks, knee braces and foldable chairs.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC Chairperson lauded the Social Welfare Department for working tirelessly to ensure welfare schemes reach the people at the grassroots level in every corner of the District. He also appreciated the proactive approach of the department in extending support to senior citizens and other vulnerable groups of society.
In his address, MLA Iftkar Ahmed made the gathering aware about the revised pension rates. He further informed that such distribution camps will be organised in every block of the district to cover the left-out beneficiaries, thereby ensuring maximum coverage under the scheme.
The camp witnessed active participation of senior citizens and their families, who expressed gratitude to the District Administration, Social Welfare Department and ALIMCO for their dedicated service and timely support.
