RAMBAN, AUGUST 20: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ramban, in collaboration with the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD), today organized an awareness programme on the safety and comfort of women commuters in public transport at Community Hall, Ramban.
The programme, held under the supervision of ARTO Varun Bhasin, focused on sensitising public transport drivers, conductors, helpers and the general public about the safety and rights of women commuters, particularly regarding earmarked seats for women in public transport and adherence to relevant safety measures and provisions.
During the programme, participants were sensitised about the importance of ensuring a safe, respectful and comfortable travelling environment for women. Emphasis was laid on strict observance of designated seats for women and responsible conduct by drivers, conductors and helpers while providing public transport services.
The awareness initiative also aimed at spreading legal and safety awareness among commuters and encouraging greater public cooperation in ensuring the safety and dignity of women using public transportation.
The officials from both the departments highlighted the importance of continued awareness programmes and coordinated efforts between concerned departments and the public to promote safer and more women-friendly public transport services in the district.
