PULWAMA, SEPTEMBER 22: The sixth day of Sewa Parv celebrations in Pulwama district witnessed a diverse range of activities organised by different departments, combining themes of cleanliness, health, culture, education, and community service.
Rural Development Department (RDD) led special block-level cleanliness drives across the district, accompanied by nukkad nataks (street plays) that highlighted the importance of collective responsibility in keeping public spaces clean.
Under the cultural theme of the campaign, wall painting drives were carried out at prominent public locations, depicting messages on sanitation, education, environment, and civic responsibility.
Similarly as part of Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan, women-focused health initiatives, special screening camps, maternal and child health awareness sessions, and counselling programmes were organised at Community Health Centres (CHCs), Primary Health Centres (PHCs), and Ayushman Arogya Mandirs by Health Department & Ayush department. A large number of citizens, particularly women and adolescents, availed preventive and curative health services provided by doctors and paramedical staff.
Alongside these initiatives, a consolidated series of awareness and outreach programmes were carried out across the district. Departments including Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, KPDCL, and Finance educated people about their respective schemes and services, while free medicine distribution drives were also carried out simultaneously.
Finance department guided pensioners on services of the Pension Suvidha Portal, while ITI Pampore held a skill development camp, and Mission YUVA registration and awareness drive at Aripal promoted women-led enterprises. Educational institutions also hosted awareness sessions for students on themes of civic responsibility, health, and environment.
To engage youth and promote healthy lifestyles, a series of sports and awareness events were conducted in various zones, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and the local community.
Meanwhile, as part of the Angikaar Campaign 2025, district administration in collaboration with Municipal Council Pulwama organised a mega outreach programme, PM Awas Mela (Shehri) at Town Hall Pulwama. Aimed at accelerating the implementation of PMAY-U 2.0, the event spread awareness about the scheme’s objectives, eligibility, and benefits.
The highlight of the event was the ‘Run for Housing’, flagged-off by the ADC Pulwama from Clock Tower to Town Hall Pulwama. At Town Hall, departmental stalls and a Help Desk was established with the Lead Bank providing information, grievance redressal, and on-spot registration for beneficiaries under PMAY-U. The mela also included plantation drives, cultural performances, essay and painting competitions, and a plantation drive.
