SHOPIAN, SEPTEMBER 27: The ongoing Sewa Parv campaign in Shopian continues to strengthen community participation through impactful initiatives centered on environment, health, and awareness.
Today’s activities showcased the district’s commitment to building a cleaner, greener, and healthier society.
At HSS Kanjiullar, Education department organized a Green Campus programme where students and staff took a solemn pledge to protect the environment. The programme highlighted the role of youth in shaping eco-conscious campuses and concluded with a collective resolve to make the school a model for green practices.
Municipal Council Shopian, as part of Swachhata Hi Seva, set up a temporary Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (RRR) Centre. Citizens actively deposited plastic waste and received cloth bags as eco-friendly alternatives, reinforcing the message of reducing single-use plastic. The drive saw enthusiastic participation from Swachhata Executives, & ULB staff.
Animal Husbandry department carried out a community outreach programme and cleanliness drive, spreading awareness among farmers and local residents about hygiene and service to society under Sewa Parv.
Agriculture department demonstrated the working and services of Kisan Khidmat Ghars, highlighting their role as farmer-centric resource centers that improve access to schemes, technology, and guidance.
On the health front, awareness programmes were held at multiple locations including K. Manloo, Keegam, Dunaroo, Marheng, and Narapora. The activities focused on cervical and breast cancer awareness, family planning, health check-ups, vaccinations, and women’s wellness education, ensuring that critical health issues received due attention under the campaign.
Forest department organized a polythene-free drive at Keller, urging citizens to adopt eco-friendly practices and protect natural habitats.
In addition to these, other departments also conducted their scheduled Sewa Parv activities, ensuring the campaign’s holistic approach across sectors.
