KATHUA, AUGUST 12: As part of the ongoing Vande Mataram and Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign, a special Swachhta Drive was organised today in Kathua with the active participation from officers, officials, NCC volunteers and staff of Municipal Council Kathua.
The cleanliness drive commenced from Sports Stadium, Kathua and culminated inside the Stadium premises. The drive was led by Additional Deputy Commissioner Kathua Mahima Madan, in presence of Chief Executive Officer, Municipal Council Kathua Amit Sharma, officers and officials of the Municipal Council and NCC volunteers.
During the drive, participants undertook cleanliness activities along the route and around the Stadium premises, besides spreading awareness among the public about the importance of maintaining clean and hygienic surroundings.
On the occasion, a Swachhta Pledge was administered to the participants, who pledged to contribute towards keeping their homes, streets, public places and surroundings clean and hygienic.
Addressing the participants, the Additional Deputy Commissioner emphasised that cleanliness is a collective responsibility and called for active participation of citizens, particularly the youth, in promoting cleanliness and civic responsibility.
She stressed the importance of proper waste segregation at source and urged citizens to segregate waste appropriately and ensure its responsible disposal. She said that source segregation facilitates scientific waste management and contributes significantly towards a cleaner and healthier environment.
The ADC also called upon the participants to carry forward the message of cleanliness beyond the campaign and make it a regular habit and a way of life.
The programme concluded with a collective resolve to make Kathua cleaner, greener and more beautiful and to sustain active public participation in the Vande Mataram and Har Ghar Tiranga Campaigns.
