KISHTWAR, MARCH 09: In anticipation to the Lok Sabha Election 2024, the District Election Cell Kishtwar spearheaded by District Election Officer Dr Devansh Yadav, in collaboration with the Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) of Government Degree College Kishtwar today conducted an enlightening workshop here on the College Campus.
The event aimed at fostering voter awareness and empowering students to actively participate in the democratic process through ELCs under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative.
The workshop was held under the chairmanship of UT Nodal Officer SVEEP, Akhter Hussain Qazi.
Over 250 students ofGDC Kishtwar and Higher Secondary Schools, set to be first-time voters in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, actively participated in the workshop.
The event’s proceedings were skillfully managed by Pooja Devi and Sonika Sharma, students of GDC Kishtwar, setting an engaging and informative tone for the session.
Masood Ahmed Qazi, Deputy CEO Kishtwar/ District Nodal Officer for ELC, extended a warm welcome, shedding light on the Universal Adult Franchise, democratic ideals that form the foundation of our nation, Bharat.
During the workshop, students including Abroo, Salma Liayakat, Sonika Sharma, Mahalok Kumar, and ZEO Inderwal Vijay Kumar shared their insights, emphasizing the importance of active voter participation.
In a significant keynote address, Akhter Hussain Qazi shared his experiences and highlighted the profound significance of exercising one’s right to vote.
He informed that Electoral Literacy Clubs, conceptualized as the largest electoral literacy movement globally, aim to ensure that ‘No Voter is Left Behind.
In a special session of the workshop, Akhter Hussain Qazi (JKAS) said that through the establishment of Electoral Literacy Clubs, we are planting a seed that will grow into a beacon of electoral awareness, dispelling the darkness of electoral ignorance.” He stressed the importance of establishing Electoral House under ELCs in educational institutions, urging the active participation of all eligible students and appointing the best and brightest girl students as ambassadors to conduct various activities.
The workshop ended with the Vote of thanks presented by Satya Bhushan Sharma, with special gratitude extended to Principal GDC Kishtwar Dr Jyoti Parihar, Assistant Professor Yasir Ahmed, and Assistant Professor Satish Kumar for their invaluable support in ensuring the success of the workshop.
