GANDERBAL, MAY 13: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore today chaired a meeting to review the implementation and progress of Mission Gyan Bharatam across the district.

During the meeting, ADDC briefed the chair regarding the ongoing survey and documentation process under the mission. It was informed that the survey of manuscripts and related historical records is ongoing in the district.

He informed that a majority of the manuscripts identified during the survey are written in Nastaliq, Arabic, Persian, Urdu and Kashmiri scripts.

The DC underscored the significance of Mission Gyan Bharatam as an important initiative aimed at preserving and documenting the rich intellectual, literary and cultural heritage of the region.

It was further informed that the documentation process is being carried out at temples, shrines and private collections of literary personalities across the district.

Stressing the need for comprehensive coverage, the DC directed the concerned officers and field functionaries to conduct the survey with utmost seriousness, accuracy and dedication. He instructed the teams to visit every household and actively engage local scholars, poets and custodians of shrines to ensure that no manuscript or historical document remains undocumented.

To expedite the survey process, the DC fixed a target of conducting surveys per day by each field team. He also directed officers to hold daily review meetings for close monitoring of progress and immediate resolution of any bottlenecks at the ground level.

The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Manzoor Ahmad; Programme Officer ICDS and other concerned officers and officials.
