RAMBAN, MAY 15: In line with the directives of Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan, a meeting of the District Level Road Safety Audit Team, constituted by the District Administration Ramban, was held today at the District Police lines under the guidance of SSP Arun Gupta to review road safety measures and strengthen efforts to minimize road mishaps in the district.
The meeting was attended by members of the Road Safety Audit Team, including Additional SP, ARTO, Executive Engineer PWD Ramban/Banihal, Executive Engineer PMGSY Ramban/Banihal, DySP Traffic Ramban, DySp Hqrs Ramban, SDPO Gool, SDPO Banihal, SHO Ramban, SHO Chanderkote and other concerned officers. A third-party road safety engineer also participated in the meeting and delivered a detailed presentation on scientific road safety measures, identification of vulnerable spots and preventive interventions.
Threadbare discussions were held on key issues related to road safety, traffic discipline, enforcement mechanisms and strategies to minimize road accidents in the district.
After the meeting, the team conducted a joint inspection of the Chanderkot–Rajgarh–Shamti road stretch to assess ground conditions and identify accident-prone areas and black spots requiring immediate attention. The inspection focused on evaluating road geometry, signage, visibility concerns and other infrastructural deficiencies contributing to road safety risks.
During the inspection, the officers examined critical stretches and discussed corrective measures to enhance commuter safety through improved engineering interventions and coordinated enforcement.
As part of the initiative, ARTO Ramban Varun Bhasin, along with DySP Traffic Ramban Sajjad Khan, also conducted a road safety awareness campaign, sensitizing drivers and the general public about safe driving practices, adherence to traffic regulations and the importance of responsible road usage.
The District Administration reiterated its commitment to strengthening road safety infrastructure and ensuring coordinated efforts among all stakeholders to reduce accidents and promote safer roads across Ramban district.
