BANDIPORA, AUGUST 06: In a significant step towards strengthening grassroots solid waste management, a Capacity Building Programme for 188 Master Trainers was organized at Town Hall, Bandipora, under the Swachhta 50:50 Initiative.
The training aimed to build the capacity of Master Trainers on the provisions of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026, with a focus on source segregation, scientific waste management, and the vital role of community participation in achieving sustainable sanitation.
Resource persons sensitized the participants on responsible waste management practices and highlighted the need to create awareness at the grassroots level. The Master Trainers were encouraged to educate households, educational institutions, Self Help Groups, Panchayati Raj Institutions, and local communities on waste segregation and environmentally sustainable practices.
The trained Master Trainers will now lead awareness and outreach activities across the district as ambassadors of the Swachhta 50:50 Initiative. They are expected to play a pivotal role in promoting behavioural change, encouraging public participation, and ensuring effective implementation of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026.
The programme concluded with a pledge by the participants to work in close coordination for making the Swachhta 50:50 Initiative a successful people’s movement and for building a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Bandipora through shared responsibility and active citizen participation.
The programme was attended by the teachers, Anganwadi functionaries, and other stakeholders.
