SHOPIAN, DECEMBER 04: With a view to ensure transparency and accountability in offices tendering public services in the district, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar today conducted surprise visits to different offices of the Social Welfare department.
The DC visited offices including One Stop Centre (OSC), Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women (SHEW) and Girls Home, Shopian, and inspected their working.
He interacted with staff and emphasized them to ensure punctuality and due performance of duties. The stress was laid on rendering the department’s services to the people with kindness and compassion.
The DC took review of the progress and status of services being provided to women needing assistance and the inmates of Girls Home.
He also visited Boys Higher Secondary School Shopian and took stock of the progress of work on Library cum Reading Rooms being established for students preparing for competitive examinations.
The officials of the education department apprised about the progress on its establishment and committed to its inauguration very soon.
Shahid asked for expediting the work on Reading Rooms and Library so that the facility is dedicated to the students this month itself.
The DC also reviewed the ongoing construction work of vending zone in Shopian town and vehicle parking sites where he emphasized on fast tracking the work for immediate completion.
The visit was aimed to better the work culture in offices and ensure accountability of the employees towards the people.
DC was accompanied by ACR, Shopian, CEO MC Shopian and other officers and officials.
