SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 30: In order to expedite the ongoing development works, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, on Wednesday conducted an on-site inspection of Anchaar Jenab Sahib Soura and reviewed the progress of works being executed for the restoration and preservation of the historic spring at the site.
In the occasion, the DC also interacted with local residents and listened to their developmental demands.
During the visit, the DC was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mir Imtiyaz Ul Aziz, IAS Probationer, Sai Kiran, Chief Planning Officer, Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Executive Engineer R&B, Suhail Rashid, Executive Engineer KPDCL 4th, Nissar Ahmad, Executive Engineer, KPDCl 3rd, Abrar Hussain, Tehsildar Eidgah, Mohammad Iqbal Zargar, Administrator Jenab Sahib Soura and other concerned Officers.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner took stock of the ongoing works and reviewed various components aimed at improving and preserving the historic spring while maintaining its heritage and aesthetic character.
The DC was informed that the project has been allotted a cost of Rs 1.20 crore and includes major components such as desilting of the pool area, dry boulder stone pitching on the floor bed, construction of a peripheral block with Devri stone tile cladding, and provision of ornamental grills around the periphery of the pool area in panels.
The project also envisages reconstruction and realignment of the deck area and steps of the spring using Devri stone, construction of ornamental gates in Devri stone, and installation of ornamental lamp posts around the pool area for illumination.
The DC directed the concerned agencies to ensure timely completion of the works while adhering strictly to prescribed quality standards and maintaining the original character and heritage value of the site. He also stressed the importance of coordinated efforts among all stakeholder Department to ensure that the restoration and development works are carried out in a sustainable, systematic and aesthetically appropriate manner.
During the visit, the DC also interacted with members of the Management Committee of Jenab Sahib Soura and local residents, who expressed their gratitude to him for the execution of various developmental works in the area, particularly at the Shrine.
Responding to the demands raised by local residents and traders, the DC directed the concerned authorities to facilitate the installation of an ATM at Anchaar Jenab Sahib Soura, aimed at providing greater convenience to the local population, devotees and traders.
He also took stock of the various road & water improvement projects and directed executing agencies to complete the remaining works.
